in early Spring of 2023, SMILE began a reconstruction process of our basement offices, thanks to a grant provided by then Commissioner Hardesty and the City of Portland. We had experienced years of damage because of reoccurring seasonal flooding. This amazing project was completed in the late summer of the same year and in addition to providing a new and beautiful SMILE administrative office, we also have The Hainley-Leipzip Room. This modest, well appointed and beautiful meeting space has some terrific amenities and allows SMILE to provide space for our community for a wide variety of purposes. We aim to make this space available to community groups and organizations in need, as well as those hosting private events such as wedding receptions and other functions, where a little extra private space is handy! This is also a great and affordable space for professional meetings and trainings.
